Welcome to MCS'2005

The International Workshop on Meta-Synthesis and Complex Systems is formally as a Sino-Japan workshop to facilitate the exchanges between Chinese and Japanese scholars in the field of systems science and complex problem solving. As it has gained so much attention not only from both Japanese and Chinese scholars, but also from Australia and Europe. After successful Beijing’2001, Shanghai’2002, Guangzhou’2003 and Beijing’2004, MCS’2005 will join the 1st World Congress of International Federation for Systems Research and provide opportunities for those researchers who are interested in systems sciences, complex problem solving and advanced modeling, meta-synthesis, artificial life, knowledge-oriented technology and integration, decision sciences and supporting technologies, etc. with the exchange of the state-of-the-art of research in complex system modeling and knowledge sciences intensively in Kobe, Japan in November of 2005. Some feature lecturers include latest explorations in open, complex giant system studies and meta-synthesis approach and the Japan MEXT 21 Century COE Program on Technology Creation based on Knowledge Science.

Young Ph.Ds and graduate students are greatly encouraged. We hope to see a growing community to distribute new ideas and latest research results. Opportunities are also provided to industrial people who wish to learn effective concepts, methodologies and advanced tools to tackle those complicated problems in strategic planning, organization diagnosis, project management, knowledge creation for the enhancement of the organizational core competence, etc. and to explore next-generation knowledge intensive tools for organizational thinking and decision making.
